The Hidden (and Astonishingly Powerful) Feature In The New Adwords Interface
(The “how to” stuff starts at about 3 minutes in)
Up until about last week, there was no way of telling the exact keyword someone typed to find your ad within your Adwords account.
Then Google changed all that and started to show us the exact words people searched for – but only in some reports.
For “normal” Adwords users (not geeks like me), it was still a bit of a pain. Especially for people who don’t hack about with Adwords Editor and Excel all day.
So you can imagine how excited I was when I noticed a new button in my Adwords account that said “See Search Terms”.
This means you can now see all the search queries people used to find your ads – from inside the new Adwords interface.
Pretty cool,eh?
So if you’re bidding on the broad match keyword: “threaded blue widgets”, you could immediately see your ad was showing on…
“free red widgets” or “threaded blue widget review”
…without running a report.
This, of course, is hugely powerful information.
You can – at a glance – find out what searches are converting and which ones are losing money.
A true, and long overdue breakthough.
So fire up your Adwords account and give it a try.
And let me know what you think in the comments section.

Thanks George, was so glad to come across this post. Very hard to find anything about this on the web at the moment that makes sense to an AdWords newbie – even AdWorlds help don’t have much about it! Would love to learn more about the “match type” column in this report though… it’s causing me some confusion.
Thanks for the kind comment. I’m brewing up some beginners posts on positive and negative match type. So if you want to know anything specific, let me know and I’ll include it in the upcoming post(s).
Best wishes,
George
